Christ's bold walk towards the cross

When Jesus Christ begin his final travel to Jerusalem he said "The first will be last, and the last first", when the Disciples heard this they automatically slowdown their speed which made Jesus Christ leading the way - But many who are first will be last, and the last first. They were on their way up to Jerusalem, with Jesus leading the way, and the disciples were astonished, while those who followed were afraid - Mark 10:31-32a

So not just disciples, the crowd ended up walking behind him - But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” And as they went out of Jericho, a great crowd followed him - Matthew 20:25-29

Once they reached Jerusalem the things are changed, there were people went before him and followed him shouting, Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord - Now when they drew near to Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples and said to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately as you enter it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has ever sat. Untie it and bring it. If anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it and will send it back here immediately.’” And they went away and found a colt tied at a door outside in the street, and they untied it. And some of those standing there said to them, “What are you doing, untying the colt?” And they told them what Jesus had said, and they let them go. And they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks on it, and he sat on it. And many spread their cloaks on the road, and others spread leafy branches that they had cut from the fields. And those who went before and those who followed were shouting, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! - Mark 11:1-9

And finally Jesus Christ explained the meaning of "The first will be last, and the last first" - And he said to them, “The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you. Rather, let the greatest among you become as the youngest, and the leader as one who serves. For who is the greater, one who reclines at table or one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at table? But I am among you as the one who serves - Luke 22:25-27

Then why in that particular stretch from Galilee to Jerusalem, Jesus Christ kept himself first? How great that walk would be for heaven to looking at Lord walking towards the Cross with the great crowd following him?

Is it not to demonstrate his love towards us? that he willingly gave himself to redeem us from the power of darkness. And In the same time, it's so amazing how Lord accomplished this with single statement "The first will be last, and the last first" - He is our God.
