Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
The question Jesus Christ asked before feeding the 5000 with 5 Loaves is really a prophetical moment because on the Passover day the Heavenly Bread Christ will be broken for us - Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat? But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do - John 6:4-6
Here the 5 loaves are literally referring to Jesus Christ, and He must be crucified for us to have an eternal life - Philip answered Him, Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little. One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many? - John 6:7-9
Is there any prophecy about the 5 Loaves?
When King David met the high priest Ahimelech, He asked 5 loaves from God's presence - And now what is under thy hand? give me five loaves in my hand, or what may be found. And the priest answered David and said, There is no common bread under my hand, but there is holy bread; if the young men have kept themselves at least from women. And David answered the priest and said to him, Yes indeed, women have been kept from us about these three days, since I came out, and the vessels of the young men are holy, and the [bread] is in a manner common, and the more so, because to-day [new] is hallowed in the vessels. And the priest gave him holy [bread]; for there was no bread there but the shew-loaves that were taken from before Jehovah, to put on hot bread in the day when they were taken away - 1 Samuel 21:3-6
Why David said this - the offered bread became ordinary bread because the new one is hallowed in the vessels?
Christ is our Living Bread, so we need not to worry about all old patterns, we only need to follow the commandments of Jesus Christ, and we can be victorious by the help of Holy Spirit.
