The rooster will not crow till you have denied me three times
None the Disciples including Peter would have realized that around 400 years before Prophet Zechariah prophesied about them and called them as sheep - Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, against the man who stands next to me,” declares the Lord of hosts. “Strike the shepherd (Christ), and the sheep (Disciples) will be scattered; I will turn my hand against the little ones - Zechariah 13:7
Peter's First hindrance act against Zechariah's Prophecy
So when Christ spoke about the fulfillment of the prophecy in the initial days of His ministry "Strike the shepherd", Peter spoke against the prophecy - From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it - Matthew 16:21-25
Peter's Second hindrance act against Zechariah's Prophecy
Now its a crucial time Christ as He is going to be handed over to be crucified, So he spoke about the fulfillment of the another part of the prophecy that "sheep will be scattered", But again Peter spoke against the prophecy - And when they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives. And Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written, ‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.’ But after I am raised up, I will go before you to Galilee.” Peter said to him, “Even though they all fall away, I will not.” And Jesus said to him, “Truly, I tell you, this very night, before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” But he said emphatically, “If I must die with you, I will not deny you.” And they all said the same - Mark 14:26-31
So this time, Christ response is entirely different, because Its not a time for Peter to Die, God has a greater plan for Peter, So Jesus Christ said "I will make the rooster to wait until you deny and flee" - Simon Peter said to him, “Lord, where are you going?” Jesus answered him, “Where I am going you cannot follow me now, but you will follow afterward.” Peter said to him, “Lord, why can I not follow you now? I will lay down my life for you.” Jesus answered, “Will you lay down your life for me? Truly, truly, I say to you, the rooster will not crow till you have denied me three times - John 13:36-38
Normally rooster used crow from 3:00 AM also, but this day is very unusual, they all are waiting for Lord's commandment - Then they seized him and led him away, bringing him into the high priest's house, and Peter was following at a distance. And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and sat down together, Peter sat down among them. Then a servant girl, seeing him as he sat in the light and looking closely at him, said, “This man also was with him.” But he denied it, saying, “Woman, I do not know him.” And a little later someone else saw him and said, “You also are one of them.” But Peter said, “Man, I am not - Luke 22:54-58
Even at the time of Trial and humiliation, Christ demonstrated that He is God of everything and ordered Rooster to crow when Peter denied Him at third time - And after an interval of about an hour still another insisted, saying, “Certainly this man also was with him, for he too is a Galilean.” But Peter said, “Man, I do not know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. And the Lord turned and looked at Peter. And Peter remembered the saying of the Lord, how he had said to him, “Before the rooster crows today, you will deny me three times.” And he went out and wept bitterly - Luke 22:59-62
