In three places Bible confirms that the descendants of Jacob those who went to Egypt were 70 and (excluding their wives)

All the persons belonging to Jacob who came into Egypt, who were his own descendants, not including Jacob's sons' wives, were sixty-six persons in all (66). And the sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two (3). All the persons of the house of Jacob who came into Egypt were seventy (70) - Genesis 46:26-27

All the descendants of Jacob were seventy persons; Joseph was already in Egypt - Exodus 1:5

Your fathers went down to Egypt seventy persons, and now the Lord your God has made you as numerous as the stars of heaven - Deuteronomy 10:22a

But in the new testament, the spirit of God reveled through Stephen that - And Joseph sent and summoned Jacob his father and all his kindred, seventy-five persons in all - Acts 7:14

So, the Total is 70 or 75?

Actually what God reveled through Stephen is different count altogether, when Joseph met his brothers - And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Say to your brothers, ‘Do this: load your beasts and go back to the land of Canaan, and take your father and your households, and come to me, and I will give you the best of the land of Egypt, and you shall eat the fat of the land.’ And you, Joseph, are commanded to say, ‘Do this: take wagons from the land of Egypt for your little ones and for your wives, and bring your father, and come - Genesis 45:17-19

They did as Pharaoh commanded - The sons of Israel carried Jacob their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons that Pharaoh had sent to carry him - Genesis 46:5b

And no where its recorded how many of them in Pharaoh's wagons including their wives, but Spirit of God reveled it through Stephen - And on the second visit Joseph made himself known to his brothers, and Joseph's family became known to Pharaoh. And Joseph sent and summoned Jacob his father and all his kindred, seventy-five persons in all - Acts 7:13-14

So, 70 is the direct descendants Jacob including the Lamb who was slain before the foundation of the world
And 75 is the remaining family members that sons Jacob brought to the Egypt

Though the Old Testament appears as giving more importance to Men, but everyone is important for God's kingdom.
