Silence, Be Still !
The prince of peace living at Capernaum, but the other side of the Sea, a city called Gerasenes where legion of demons tormenting a man and making him to scream day and night - He lived among the tombs. And no one could bind him anymore, not even with a chain, for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him. Night and day among the tombs and on the mountains he was always crying out and cutting himself with stones - Mark 5:3-5
So our Lord traveled towards Gerasenes by boat, and his disciples also joined with him without knowing the reason - On that day, when evening had come, he said to them, “Let us go across to the other side.” And leaving the crowd, they took him with them in the boat, just as he was. And other boats were with him - Mark 4:35-36
People used to bring the demon possessed person to the Lord for healing, and when Lord rebukes the Demon flees immediately - And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly - Matthew 17:18
So demon knows what to do for Lord's anger, But the demos at Gerasenes thought that they are in safest place, because no one can bind the demon possessed man - for he had often been bound with shackles and chains, but he wrenched the chains apart, and he broke the shackles in pieces. No one had the strength to subdue him - Mark 5:4
So our Lord must go and find the man and then rebuke the demons? No, Not at all.
Immediately the storm and the waves rose against the boat, and when the disciples started screaming for their life, Lord rebuked from the midst of the Ocean for everything that make noise to settle down in the ocean - And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!” - Mark 4:37-41
The disciples marveled when the winds and sea obeyed for Lord's rebuke, but something else also must have to stop making the noise and settle down in the ocean that they realized only after reaching the Gerasenes. As soon as they reached the shore, the demons possessed man came and fell down before the Lord - Then they came to the other side of the sea, to the country of the Gadarenes. And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit - Mark 5:1-2 & When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. And he cried out with a loud voice and said, What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me. For He had already said unto to him, Unclean spirit, come out of this man - Mark 5:6-8
And finally all the demons were submerged and settled down at the Ocean, and the man was completely healed - Then He asked him, “What is your name?” And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” Also he begged Him earnestly that He would not send them out of the country. Now a large herd of swine was feeding there near the mountains. So all the demons begged Him, saying, “Send us to the swine, that we may enter them.” And at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea. So those who fed the swine fled, and they told it in the city and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that had happened. Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. And those who saw it told them how it happened to him who had been demon-possessed, and about the swine. Then they began to plead with Him to depart from their region. And when He got into the boat, he who had been demon-possessed begged Him that he might be with Him. However, Jesus did not permit him, but said to him, “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” And he departed and began to proclaim in Decapolis all that Jesus had done for him; and all marveled. Now when Jesus had crossed over again by boat to the other side - Mark 5:9-21a
